Darwin the Dinosaur loves to dance, but he needs someone to join his troupe. When Mom and Dad offer to show him their moves, Darwin laughs. There's no way his prehistoric parents can groove like him, he thinks ... until they show off some funky Jurassic dance steps! When Grandma arrives and throws down some old-school grooves, Darwin's jaw drops. His family's moves are fly! Together, the troupe dances until they drop, and Darwin goes to sleep dreaming of his crew and all their fresh moves.

PreS-K--A young green spiny-backed dinosaur named Darwin loves to dance, but a crew would make dancing even more fun. Unfortunately, he can't find anyone, except his parents--a short green triceratops with red glasses and an apron, and an aqua brachiosaurus with a kerchief and tool belt--and grandma, in a gardening hat and galoshes. Mom and Dad may be "straight-up Jurassic," but as for Grandma? "This fossil's got grooves / that get better with time." Darwin witnesses some classic moves, such as the Sprinkler, the Mashed Potato, and the Running Man, and as he drifts off to sleep that night, they promise that tomorrow will be a big day: They'll teach him the macarena and the YMCA. Pair it with How Do You Dance? by Thyra Heder and pump up the volume. VERDICT With rhyming text, appealing cartoonish dinos, and plenty of opportunities to build in movement, this dino dance book could be a hit at preschool story times, and it celebrates intergenerational relationships.--Jenny Arch
